Vancouver Aquarium

On my last day in Vancouver before heading back to Toronto for X-mas, Amit was in town visiting with his girlfriend Kyla (they both go to McGill). Megan and I joined them on a trip to the Aquarium. I still hadn't been to this great Vancouver destination, and I loved it.
Highlights included the great dolphin, the adorable otters, the turtle lovin', the beluga's air-bubble-rings they'd create then attack, and the very well-trained sea lion. I had a few personally satisfying outbursts; when the trainer asked the crowd "What is one of the dolphin's main predators?" and I exclaimed "Man!". Also when this critter lady was showing some children a millipede and asked them what millipedes eat, I blurted out "Children!". Ah, another job well done.

All the photos are in the gallery, found by clicking the thumbnail above. I also have 3 MOVIES: the dolphin playing volleyball, the beluga, and the sea otters.

Good Links

While reading through a new and very popular site, Digg, I found a great website featuring photos of bottle-puzzles. "Huh?", you ask?. Just check out the link here.

Later I was reading through another, even more popular site (and one of the finest on the internet), Slashdot. I was perusing the comments beneath a posting about podjacking, hijacking a podcast, and read this comment:

"Do we HAVE to invent new contorted words for every variation of everything these days? Podjacking? Webinar? Blogosphere, podosphere? Vlog? Moblogging? I'm in pain here!"

Somebody then posted a link to a funny maddox article about hated new words, here. Maddox is great.

Cypress Mountain snowshoeing

On Saturday, we headed up to a freshly snowed-upon Cypress Mountain for some snowshoeing shenanigans. "We" being Barry, Colleen, Erin, Megan and myself. We piled into Erin's nice Subaru and took the splendid 45 minute drive from campus to the hill. We spent the day zigzagging around all the trails and jumping down hills into deep powder. Barry and I also carried out diabolical attacks on Colleen and Megan. All that deep powder makes me eager to get backcountry tele skiing. (Stay tuned in January for that).

For the photo gallery, click the thumbnail above. I also made a short movie composed of clips of us jumping.
