Squamish climbing

Jordan, Krystil, Smelson, Leila and I set out for Squamish yesterday in what will most likely be the last weekend of nice climbing weather before the ski season begins. The Smoke Bluffs were packed and I didn't take any photos until near the end of the day when the lighting became fantastic and I had to get some photos of Jordan doing some trad climbing. New Powerbook / Musical post

Apple released a brand new line of Powerbooks two weeks ago and I ordered the 15" base model the day after they came out. Check out the specs here. Here's a photo of my Powerbook with my 19" monitor spanning in the background. I didn't use the flash because this thing's already flashy enough.

Since it's such a trend to post songs on blogs these days, and I want to be 'with it' too, here are some songs that I have had stuck in my head over the last few days.

The Black Eyed Peas - Don't Lie: I got this one when I downloaded their whole new album, Monkey Business, which I actually found pretty good. However most of the songs sound familiar, because they tend to sample popular music to use for their own songs.

Boards of Canada - Chromakey Dreamcoat: From the new Campfire Headphase album, which Megan suggested I download. It's decent - it has a few good songs I guess. This one is my favourite so far.

DJ Z-Trip - DJ Z-Trip vs. KRS-One: Heard this care of Mike Simons on the way home from climbing in Squamish at VOC Longhike. It's one section of a whole live set and it's only the the first 3 minutes of this track that I like. The whole live set is pretty amazing, probably in my top 5 albums of all time.

Howie Day - Collide: Barry played this song on the guitar at UBC a few weeks ago, and it actually sounded pretty good! That meant the real song would be excellent, so I downloaded it.

Skahahaha

For Halloween, we went on a huge Varsity Outdoor Club trip to Penticton to climb at the fantastic Skaha climbing area. Trish opened up her house for the more than 40 guests to stay at. We had an unbelievable time climbing this haven and partying in her log-mansion on the apple orchard.

I also made a movie during the middle of my ascent of The Sagging Bumline. This route is totally exposed, and is 40m long (you have to belay from bolts 10m high while standing on a small ledge). The movie does not due justice to how terrifying and exciting a climb it was for me. I'm about 30m off the ground when I took the movie. See it here.

Iceland 2.0

Hey all, long time no talk. Mozen, my partner-in-crime during the Iceland trip, has posted an extensive account of our Iceland visit complete with even more photos than I posted here. Check it out at:

P.S. Stay tuned for my Skaha Climbing photos!
